Refuge. Recovery. Restoration.

The Pearl Safe Haven is a Ghanaian company limited by guarantee (not for profit) operating an emergency shelter for survivors of sexual and domestic violence.

OUR MISSION

We aim to provide a safe place and support to enable women and children who have suffered abuse to re-build their lives and rejoin the community.

Our Vision

The vision of the Pearl Safe Haven is to promote the human rights of women and children and to protect and heal those who have suffered gender-based violence in Ghana.

We are determined to change the narrative on Gender Based violence in Ghana.

According to official figures, 38.7% of Ghanaian women between the ages of 15 and 49 years have experienced violence at the hands of an intimate partner.

Tragically, girls under the age of 19 years are the demographic most likely to experience violence. Our solution is multi-pronged.  In addition to establishing are refuge - The Pearl Safe Haven - we run regular advocacy programs and have developed a mobile application - The Safe Place - to provide important remote support to survivors.

We are changing the narrative on Gender Based Violence

Funding, grants and capacity gaps/needs

We are grateful to all our donors and supporters, including the Australian High Commission in Accra, the Mohinani Group, Geodrill, Diamond Cement, Wilkins, JLD & MB Legal Consultancy, Signum Development, and West Africa Forgings. With your support we have been able to complete Phase 1 of our project that will enable us to accommodate and support 10 women. Phase 1 includes the ground and first floors of the main building, an under-cover kitchen and dining space and the admin block.

We are currently seeking funding to complete Phase 2, essentially the second floor, that will enable us to accommodate an extra 10 women.
